Science Knowledge Organisers

What are knowledge organisers?

Knowledge organisers are a summary of the key facts and essential knowledge that pupils need about a unit of work or a curriculum subject. We have designed knowledge organisers to run alongside our themed unit plans. They fit onto an  A4 piece of paper and contain key information broken down into easily digestible chunks.

How do we use Knowledge organisers?

Knowledge organisers are a valuable tool for both children, staff and parents. Class teachers  write the knowledge organiser, to set out their expectations of what pupils should learn about a topic. they form part of the tools we use to offer the children 'retrieval practise'. Retrieval practice is a strategy in which bringing information to mind enhances and boosts learning. Deliberately recalling information forces us to pull our knowledge out and examine what we know.

Pupils will review, revise and quiz themselves using their knowledge organisers.

And finally knowledge organisers are a really clear and easy to understand way for parents to be more aware of what their children are learning at primary school and thus to support them.

We hope you enjoy using them as much as we enjoyed making them!
