School Counsellor
At Sacred Heart we are very fortunate in being able to provide an on-site school counselling service.
Our school counsellor is Flora Oliver.

r a little more information about counselling woks with Flora:
When working with children and young people, I often incorporate games, art, and other creative activities to help them feel at ease. These tools can be particularly effective, as children and adolescents can sometimes find it difficult to express their feelings or articulate their challenges through words alone.
My approach is always tailored to the individual. Together, we identify the root causes of their difficulties and develop strategies that suit their unique needs, rather than applying a one-size-fits-all solution.
I focus on creating a safe and supportive environment where they feel free to express themselves at their own pace. I follow a child-led approach, allowing them to guide the process. This fosters a sense of safety and trust, making it more effective than pressuring them to discuss specific issues before they are ready.
Therapy should never feel intimidating or overwhelming. It should be a welcoming, non-judgmental space where children can explore their emotions in a way that feels manageable and comfortable. Whether through play, creativity, or conversation, my goal is to provide an environment where they can process their feelings and experiences on their own terms.
Referrals to the school counsellor can be made either by school staff, parents or sometimes the children themselves (in consultation with parents and carers). If a member of staff feels a child would benefit from sessions with the school counsellor, this would always be discussed with parents first. If you think your children would benefit from speaking to Flora please get in touch with Mrs Sanders: head@sacredheart-henley.co.uk
