Our Faith Journey

Prayer life

Prayer is an important part of class and assembly time. Children learn formal prayers and are encouraged to write their own.

Assembly

In assembly we gather together and celebrate through hymns, prayers, sharing learning from class and studying local and global themes.

Mass in School and Church

Mass is celebrated regularly in school with children taking a leading role. The children celebrate Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church throughout the school year.

Father Paul Fitzpatrick

Father Paul is our Parish Priest. He visits school each week to celebrate Mass and he also visits individual classes and meets parents after school.

Sacramental Preparation

  • First Communion and Reconciliation
    • During Year 3, children have the opportunity to prepare for their reception of the Eucharist and First Reconciliation with the support of the Parish Priest and Parish community. Enrolment takes place on the first Sunday of Advent. There are further celebrations throughout the year, culminating in the Celebration of First Holy Communion in the Summer term.
  • Confirmation
    • Year 6 have the opportunity to prepare for their confirmation. This sacrament is taught at school including a community project. The sacrament is conferred by the Bishop.
